A Precise Recognition Approach of Ballistic Missile Warhead and Decoy

Abstract

Micro-Doppler tracks illustrated by time-frequency spectrogram enable us to recognize ballistic missile warhead and decoy according to their different micro-motions. However, our further research shows that the micro-Doppler track of decoy's swing is similar to that of warhead's precession motion when the swing and procession angle are small. It is hard to discriminate decoy and warhead by time-frequency spectrogram under this situation. To deal with that, a precise recognition approach is presented in this paper. The simulation based on a full-wave numerical method validates the proposed approach.
