Abstract
In this paper, a novel matching scheme for the bandwidth enhancement of traditional narrow-slot antennas is presented. In the scheme, the feeding structure of a slot antenna is composed of a quasi half-wavelength microstrip resonator and a quasi quarter-wavelength microstrip feed-line. They generate two additional resonances besides the main one so that the bandwidth of the slot antenna can be improved. The operation mechanism of the feeding structure may be studied employing a circuit model. Samples are designed and fabricated to verify the matching scheme. Measured results show that the bandwidth may be enhanced up to 48.0% for a typical slot antenna.
