Abstract

In this paper, a compact THz scanning imaging system is designed by using a scanning plane mirror in front of the improved reverse-microscope system (IRMS) on which a 29 element linear array is placed. The IRMS is composed of an objective lens and an extended hemispherical lens. Firstly, the field-of-view of the IRMS for different frequencies is analyzed by calculating the focal field with ray-tracing method and Stratton-Chu vector diffraction integral formula. It is found that the field-of-view of the IRMS is dependent on the electric size of the IRMS. Secondly, a compact 29 element linear array parallel scan imaging system based on IRMS with appropriate electric size is designed. The focal field is calculated, and the imaging performance is analyzed in detail. Finally, the coupling between the incident wave at different incident angles and the antenna array element, which is double slot antenna, arranged on different positions of focal plane, is calculated. The numerical results show that the field-of-view of 60° × 14° can be obtained, and good imaging performance is expected.
