Broadband Inductive Slot Antenna using Capacitors Loading Technique

Abstract

A broadband design of coplanar waveguide (CPW)-fed inductive slot antenna with two chip capacitors loaded is proposed. Two capacitors loaded across the inductive slot far from the open ends in symmetric positions can lower the resonant frequency. Furthermore, with the capacitors loaded in asymmetric positions, two close resonant modes are generated for wider bandwidth. With optimal loading positions of the capacitors, a good 10-dB matching impedance can cover from 5.06 to 5.92 GHz, which is applied to two different bands of the high-performance radio local area network (HIPERLAN, 5.15– 5.35 GHz) and wireless local area network (WLAN, 5.725–5.825 GHz). Details of the experimental results of the constructed prototypes are discussed.
