Abstract

This paper presents a compact structure of dual-band branch-line coupler with 20 : 1 power dividing ratio. To obtain dual-band operation and high-ratio power division, branch lines with center-tapped short and open stubs are discussed and employed to replace the high and low impedance quarter-wavelength lines in the conventional unequal branch-line coupler respectively. As an example, a 20 : 1 branch-line coupler operating at 1.0 GHz and 1.8 GHz is designed, fabricated and measured. The measurements are in good agreement with the simulations. It is shown that the dual-band branch-line coupler is suitable for high-ratio power division with small frequency ratio.
