Abstract
Tapered-line resonators are introduced, analyzed and optimized by pattern search algorithm to attain the most reduction in size in dual-band applications. The optimization results indicate that the proposed resonators are smaller than the conventional compact stepped-impedance resonators by 5%. Moreover, they do not suffer from drawbacks caused by discontinuities in width. To validate and compare the performance of these resonators, four microstrip bandpass filters are designed and fabricated for WLAN dual-band applications.
