Abstract

A butterfly-shaped dual-band antenna with low cross-polarization levels is presented. The proposed antenna rame-dipoles nested within each other and a couple of strips. The antenna prototype is designed, fabricated and tested. The experimental results show the antenna covers 2.2–2.74 GHz and 3.15–3.75 GHz bands with 10 dB return loss, satisfying the desired standards of WiMAX application. Besides, the design provides omni-directional characteristics in H-plane and low cross polarization in both H and E planes over the operating bands.
