Calculation of Accurate Complex Resonant Frequency of an Open Microstrip Resonator using the Spectral Domain Method

Abstract

A numerical solution of the complex resonant frequency and the quality factor for the microstrip resonator in an open space is found using the spectral domain method. In the solution process, the effect of the surface wave loss as well as the radiation loss are incorporated correctly by choosing the proper integration path. The results of the complex resonant frequency for various open microstrip rectangular resonators are presented.
