Abstract
In this paper an analysis of scattering from partially buried conducting strips and from coupled conducting strips near the planar interface between two semi-infinite, homogeneous half-spaces is presented. The strips are of infinite extent, their axes are parallel to the interface, and the excitation is transverse electric to their axes. The present analyses are limited to strip-interface geometries in which the plane of the partially buried strip is perpendicular to the interface while those of the coupled strips are either parallel or perpendicular to the interface. Coupled electric field integral equations for the currents induced on the strips are formulated and numerical methods are developed for solving them. From knowledge of the calculated surface currents, the far-zone scattered field is determined. Data representing the induced currents and the far-zone field patterns are presented and discussed for various strips and media parameters of interest.
