Mueller matrices for scattering from chiral coated curved surfaces (Summary)

Abstract

We investigate angular scattering from chiral coated and homogeneous cylinders and spheres through the use of Mueller matrices. The interplay of symmetry, curvature, loss, polarization, and chirality on angular scattering is examined. We find the Mueller matrix elements which are particularly sensitive to small amounts of chirality. These quantities are the prime candidates for the accurate remote detection and characterization of chiral scatterers.
