Reflection From Quasi-Randomly Distributed Gratings of Fibers: Comparison of Integral-Representation With Homogenization Methods

Abstract

The reflectivity of quasi-randomly distributed gratings of fibers is analyzed by means of an integral representation of the scattered field. The results are compared with those obtained from two homogenization methods and used to investigate the accuracy of the latter. Both TE and TM polarizations are considered and the reflectivity is investigated as a function of the wavelength and the angle of incidence.
