Abstract
A novel coupled-mode theory for coupled microstrip transmission lines is presented using the singular perturbation technique in the spectral domain. The coupled-current distributions in each line as well as the propagation constants of the coupled modes are calculated by a simple matrix algebra using the current spectra of each isoalted single line. The numerical results for two identical coupled microstrip lines show a good agreement with those of the rigorous Galerkin's moment method solutions.
