Abstract
A novel technique for increasing the main lobe level and reducing the side lobes of monopoles, aperture and reflector antennas over ground planes is proposed. The technique employs a compensating loop which is physically close and parallel to each diffracting edge, and is arranged to have the reverse current distribution of the edge. It is anticipated that with proper optimization of the various design parameters, the improvement in the main to first side lobe ratio will exceed the recently observed experimental value of about 7 dB.
