Resumen

El presente estudio longitudinal analiza el efecto de la experiencia continua-discontinua de sensibilidad materna sobre el desarrollo cognitivo y socioemocional infantil. Se evaluó la sensibilidad en 55 madres a los 6, 12 y 18 meses durante una situación de juego madre-hijo, y los indicadores de desarrollo de sus hijos a los 18 meses. Los resultados indican que la experiencia de sensibilidad continua favorece el óptimo desarrollo cognitivo y socioemocional del niño, estando este último especialmente sujeto a la experiencia más reciente. Estos resultados refuerzan una perspectiva dinámica de la sensibilidad y resaltan la importancia de los aspectos socio-afectivos en el desarrollo cognitivo.

Abstract

This longitudinal study examines the effect of continuous-discontinuous experience of maternal sensitivity on infant cognitive and socio-emotional development. Maternal sensitivity was assessed in 55 dyads at 6, 12 and 18 months in a mother-child play situation; and child development indicators were assessed at 18 months. The results show that a continuous experience of maternal sensitivity enhances the child's optimal cognitive and socio-emotional development. The latter is specifically influenced by recent sensitive experience. These results support a dynamic view of maternal sensitivity and emphasise the importance of the socio-emotional aspects of cognitive development.
