Resumen

Estudiar las cuestiones de género y enlazarlas a un tema tan relevante como el acceso de las mujeres a la función directiva, resulta imprescindible y encomiable. En este comentario al artículo de Isabel Cuadrado se reflexiona sobre la reconstrucción del concepto de ‘diferencias’ y se plantea la cuestión de cuales son las diferencias a incorporar a nuestras preguntas de investigación. ¿Se trata de analizar las diferencias que se dan en la conducta o en el tratamiento, es decir, en la elaboración del constructo social de género? ¿Se podrían incorporar, a su vez, las diferencias que se dan entre las mujeres, sin compararlas con los hombres?

Abstract

Analysing gender aspects linked to the relevant question of women's progress in management means an important and laudable work. The present comment on “Do women and men adopt different leadership styles? An analysis of the influence of leadership styles on access to managerial positions”, by Isabel Cuadrado, offers suggestions for reconceptualizing ‘differences’. The focus lies on the ‘differences’ that should be included in our research questions. Is it the differences between women's and men's behaviour, or is it the differences in their treatment, that is, in the social construction of gender that should be analysed? ¿Would it be possible to include the analysis of differences among women without comparing them to men?
