Abstract

The aims of this study were: to validate the factor structure of the 10-item Homosexuality Attitude Scale (EAH-10; Moral and Ortega, 2008), to calculate its internal consistency, to describe its distribution, and to estimate its validity with 6-item version of the Homophobic Attitude Scale (EHF-6; Moral and Martínez-Sulvarán, 2010). A sample of 200 men and 200 women took part in the study. The 10-item scale showed an alpha coefficient of.87, a correlated two factor structure with a good fit for the data (χ2/df = 2.11; RMSSR =.04, RMSEA =.05, GFI =.96 and AGFI =.94) that reflects patterns of differential response to the items written as direct (rejection) or reverse (acceptance) statements. The distribution of EAH-10 was adjusted to a normal curve, which on average reflected an attitude of tolerance towards homosexuality. The EHF-6 scale showed convergent validity (r =.68). We wish to encourage its use and study in other populations.
