Abstract

The aim of this study is to analyze the reasons people give for not having signed a donor card. To this end, a survey was conducted in Málaga, the subjects being divided into three groups: those who wanted to sign (but had not), those who did not want to sign, and those who were undecided. For the first group, the main reasons were: lack of information and not knowing how to obtain a card. In contrast, in the second group the reasons were: disapproval of organ donation, superstition or fear and not wanting to think about one's own death. Finally, the subjects of the third group recognized that fear and not wanting to think about one's own death are important reasons, but added, unlike the others, that they had not thought about the question.
