Pages 201-237 | Published online: 23 Jan 2014

Abstract

This paper aims to present a general view of some of the most important social psychological contributions to prejudice, a very old and controversial topic in the discipline. After some definitions and a small historical review of its study, it presents two theoretical views which bring together the most relevant research: prejudice as a negative attitude and prejudice as an intergroup conflict. Finally, it reviews some recent research lines which try to explain the most subtle expressions of prejudice today.
