Socio-urban discourses and practices in Rio de Janeiro

Abstract

According the Propositional Analysis of Discourse (Ghiglione & Blanchet, 1991) of two groups of Rio de Janeiro's inhabitants, culturally and socio-economically situated, we tried to verify some psychosocial conditions for the commitment on social action of urban change. The first psychosocial condition observed is the production of an specific and particular social representation about the urban object to change; the second condition, it is the identification with the urban group to which the person belongs; and, the third, the production of one group representation as if the subject was active and positively valuated. The observation of two groups in Rio de Janeiro give us some initial validation of these predictions.
