Abstract

Following the World Health Organisation recomendations regarding the importance of prevention and assesment of mental health in children, we present in this paper the formulation of the Positive Mental Health Test (TSMPI) (Test Salud Mental Positiva Infantil), in which structure are incorporated the three criteria of Positive Mental Health, defined by Marie Jahoda in her Conceptual Current Concepts of Positive Mental Health Model (1958) and the first four stages of the Psychosocial Development Theory (Stages of the Epigenesis of the Ego) by Erik H. Erikson (1963).

The interrelations of these theoretical frameworks, has allowed the elaboration of five sequential indicators of Positive Mental Health, that correspond to the age group eight to twelve: Trust, Selfconcept, Autonomy, Iniciative and Industry.
