Groupality profiles in occupational units of bureaucreatic and professional organizations

Pages 269-277 | Published online: 23 Jan 2014

Abstract

Developmental conditions of work group “groupality” in both educational and bureaucratic organizations are analyzed, on the assumption that its baseline is closer to the diffuse group than to the team. Both “groupality” levels and dynamics are studied in a sample of 31 occupational units of educational centers within the framework of the theory of the collective and via the questionnaire of “groupality” developmment. It is found a middle level of “groupality”, but with a certain degree of variability. Activating factors, on top of the initial conditions, are type of task, members' convergence on value orientation and context identity. Criteria for diagnosis and team training that complement the technological group intervention are suggested.
