Abstract

In this paper, the main approaches to the study of values are reviewed. Values of a sample of 216 adolescents were measured by the Schwartz Value Survey and analyses were developed to know its factor structure. It permitted to locate all motivational domains along a continuum of individualism-collectivism. We relationed adolescents' values with their collective self-esteem and analyzed the ranking of values of idiocentric and allocentric subjects. Findings suggest that identification with groups actualizes both collectivist and individualist interests, as well as that allocentrics are more oriented to collectivist values than idiocentrics to individualist ones.
