Abstract

The paper is a compilation of excerpts of the work of Lev S. Vygotsky 1) on Psychology of Art considered as a psychological engineering of feelings, 2) on acting techniques that serve to socialize feelings, and 3) on the function of art in life and in education. Notes on mediation and representation general processes and the progression from natural to cultural processes, such as mediated perception, are also included. The nature of play and imagination —and their internal relations—is also underlined as a central aspect of development around which major cognitive functions are constructed. The emotional roots of representation and reconstruction, as an awareness of emotions in feelings, are also addressed. There are also quotations in which Vygotsky points out the role of drama as archetype of human psychic processes. Finally, texts on the meaning of art education, which are closely related to other texts proposing education itself as art and learning as a creative process, have also been included.
