Learning to think historically with information technology supports

Pages 181-199 | Received 01 Oct 2007, Accepted 01 Mar 2008, Published online: 23 Jan 2014

Abstract

This paper demonstrates how different information technology supports (simulations, virtual realities, videogames or interactive webs) might facilitate the development of key historical concepts such as signification, cause-effect, change and continuity, evidence or report. The objective is therefore to diversify the material and resources available to History students in order to (a) increase the possibilities of experimentation with historical events, and (b) to make possible the real and direct manipulation of space/time variables.
