Validation of the English Version of the Dyadic Coping Inventory

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to validate the English version of the original German Dyadic Coping Inventory. Results indicated that the English version of the Dyadic Coping Inventory is a valid and reliable measure of dyadic coping in a sample of 709 heterosexual university students.

Christine Levesque is a PhD candidate in Experimental Psychology at the University of Ottawa, where she also received her BA in psychology. Her major research interests pertain to non-suicidal self-injury, couple relationships, sexuality, and young adult coping and attachment processes.

Marie-France Lafontaine, PhD, is a professor at the School of psychology at the University of Ottawa, Canada. She is the director of the University of Ottawa’s Couple Research Lab. Her various research projects aim to better understand the affective, cognitive and behavioural factors that influence couple functioning.

Angela Caron

Angela Caron is a PhD candidate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Ottawa, Ontario. Her research and clinical interests pertain to couple relationships, trauma, sexuality, and young adult coping and attachment processes. She is a member of the University of Ottawa’s Couple Research Lab.

Josée Fitzpatrick

Josée Fitzpatrick is a PhD candidate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Ottawa, Ontario. Her research interests include couple relationships, romantic attachment, trauma, and psychological, physical, and sexual abuse.
