Criteria of Soil Aggressiveness Towards Buried Metals. II*. Assessment Of Various Soils

Pages 109-115 | Published online: 18 Jul 2013

Abstract

The results of a five-year study of the properties of 87 soils have shown that a reliable indication of the aggressiveness of soil towards buried ferrous materials can be obtained from measurements of resistivity and of redox potential. Soils considered by this means to be on the borderline between aggressive and non aggressive may be resolved by a consideration of the water content. Critical values for the various parameters are suggested.
