Stress Corrosion of 410 Stainless Steel in Boiling Sodium Sulphide Solution

Pages 64-69 | Published online: 20 Nov 2013

Abstract

The effects of metallurgical condition, stress level and applied polarisation potentials on the cracking of 410 stainless steel in boiling sodium sulphide solution have been investigated. The dead load technique was applied. The results indicated that failure mechanism involves both active path corrosion and hydrogen embrittlement depending on thepolarisation potential applied.
