Abstract
<p>Those who seek breakthrough medical cures without jeopardizing the integrity of embryonic human life have directed their attention to proposed alternative sources of human, pluripotent stem cells. In this article, we briefly elucidate the current context in which we confront these issues by offering a brief summary of the science and politics of developmental biology. Secondly, we offer a synoptic overview of altered nuclear transfer (ANT). We then engage in an extensive rebuttal of the most salient criticisms of ANT.</p>
