Abstract
Several presentations at Florence dealt with the state of the MIM industry, both worldwide and in Europe, reports John Dunkley. While the impact of the crisis had been felt quite severely, the statistics for MIM were, overall, much better than for the classical sintered parts industry, with the fall from the peak being signifi?cantly less. This probably reflects that extreme dependence of the sintered parts business on the automotive market, whereas MIM serves a much wider range of markets, some of which, like biomedical in the USA, were only slightly affected by the crisis.
