An Inverse Correlation between Linear Coefficients of Thermal Expansion and Bond Energies of the Common Elements of the Periodic Table

Pages 533-534 | Published online: 18 Jul 2013

Abstract

For a large number of common metals, it has been shown that the magnitudes of linear coefficient of thermal expansion are influenced inversely by the calculated values of MM bond energies (where M denotes a metal atom). The qualitative theoretical significance of this correlation is discussed.
