Deformation Banding in Rolled Copper Crystals

Pages 83-89 | Published online: 18 Jul 2013

Abstract

The orientation changes occurring during the rolling of two copper single crystals initially oriented close to (110)[112] are described. The crystals had very similar rolling textures but markedly differentrates of recrystallization. It is shown that the relative extent of deformation banding developed in the crystals during rolling is responsible for their different behaviour on annealing. General orientation stability was observed for a crystal oriented close to (110)[112], but one slightly more misoriented showed instability early in the rolling process.
