Abstract
This note summarizes some effects of C and Mo on the precipitation reactions in an alloy system based on 45Ni–35Fe–20Cr. Three alloys with carbon contents of 0·01, 0·05, and 0·10%, and a fourth alloy containing 0·10C–3·5Mo were made as vacuum-melted induction casts. Hot-rolled bars, 12·7mm dia., were solution treated and then aged at temperatures between 500 and 900°C from 15 min to 100 h. The specimens were water quenched, hardness tested, and metallographically examined. The full details of the experimental techniques are given elsewhere.
