Abstract
Some references to the metal zinc in ancient and medieval times introduce the beginnings of hot-dip galvanizing 200 years ago, while an historical survey of the process serves as a background to the outstanding contribution of Tadeusz Sendzimir to the solution of intractable problems associated with galvanizing by the sheet process. The value of international cooperation is shown by a description of its impact on the development of the Sendzimir galvanizing process.
