Abstract
As a preliminary step to further metal-forming operations, mono- and bimetallic co-axial arrays of rods have been successfully welded using high explosives as a source of energy and employing an implosive welding technique. Types, properties, and characteristics of the welds obtained in a variety of metallic combinations are described, and the effects of metal and plastic gas shields are discussed.
