Continuous casting

Pages 48-55 | Published online: 19 Jul 2013

Abstract

The continuous casting of both ferrous and non-ferrous metals has been investigated extensively over the last 20 years, reflecting the major position this casting technique has now assumed in industry. Recent reviews have dealt with the ∼ontinuous casting of steel and aluminium. No attempt is made to cover the subject in a comprehensive way as it is too large. Instead, particular areas are discussed primarily those relating to solidification, mathematical modelling, and cracking.
