It is a privilege to introduce the papers that will be presented during the XXXIV Congress of the International Society of Hematology (ISH)/LIII Congress of the Agrupación Mexicana para el Estudio de la Hematología A.C., the third joint meeting of these two hematological societies. The academic program has been carefully prepared to address different aspects of the practice of hematology, focusing particularly on practice in developing countries, which has several features that differentiate it from that in developed countries. We have endeavored to select scientific themes for the academic program that are independent of those preferred by the corporations, some of which attempt to deviate from the scientific aspects of medicine towards more profitable activities. For this reason, several academic organizations have actively participated in the selection of the topics of the presentations: The American Society of Clinical Oncology, the Grupo Cooperativo Latinoamericano de Hemostasia y Trombosis, the Mayo Clinic, the MD Anderson Cancer Center and the World Federation of Hemopilia.Welcome to México, specifically to the idyllic resort of Cancún, to enjoy this academic activity. We have made our best efforts to satisfy your needs and we all look forward to an exciting hematological conference.
