Abstract

Hot and humid conditions are one of the most typical working environments of photovoltaic module. Studying the aging and failure mechanisms of photovoltaic module and their reactions with steam in these conditions is needed to increase the reliability of photovoltaic module products. In this paper, the IR spectrum was used to analyse ethylene-vinyl acetate in different aging states and determine the reaction process of ethylene-vinyl acetate on the aging process in hot and humid conditions. In this study, a mathematical model was developed to extrapolate the factors that influenced the steam permeation and time constant in this process. The results will benefit sealing materials selection, design and enhancement of anti-permeation abilities, decrease the risk of failure by steam permeation, and improve the reliability of photovoltaic module.
