Abstract
In this paper, the use of vibratory weld conditioning to influence the properties of thick plate welded joint was recently suggested. Metallographic examination and mechanical property tests were employed to study the differences in welded joint properties between conventional and vibratory welding. The refined joints are obtained owing to increased spontaneous formation of stable nuclei in vibration treatment. According to test results and correlative analysis, both weld metal and heat-affected zone are in high impact energy when the displacement amplitude varies from 60 to 70 μm.
