Abstract

Cyclohexane+1,2-ethylene dichloride can form azeotropic mixture that contains 46% 1,2-ethylene dichloride on mole fraction and the azeotropic temperature is 348.41 K. In this study, isobaric vapour–liquid equilibria data for the cyclohexane+1,2-ethylene dichloride binary system and the cyclohexane+1,2-ethylene dichloride+1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride ternary system were measured in a double circulating vapour–liquid equilibrium still at 101.3 kPa. It was found that the azeotropic point of cyclohexane+1,2-ethylene dichloride was shifted upwards after adding 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride to the system. The more the IL added to the system, the greater shift could be reached. When the mass fraction of cyclohexane+1,2-ethylene dichloride reached 40%, azeotropic point of the binary system was eliminated.
