Abstract

This paper reports the thermal properties and 1·064 m m lasing characteristics of Nd³⁺:LaVO₄ crystal pumped with a Ti:sapphire laser. The maximum laser output power is 107 mW at the pumping power of 461 mW. The slope and light conversion efficiency are 52·8 and 22·9% respectively, and the laser threshold is 45 mW. These results indicate that Nd³⁺:LaVO₄ crystal can be regarded as a new laser crystal.
