The evolution of polymer processing into macromolecular engineering and science

Pages 3-4 | Published online: 19 Jul 2013

Abstract

Macromolecular engineering and science is a new and exciting multidisciplinary activity encompassing several engineering and scientific disciplines. It emerged organically from inherent developments in polymer processing, polymer physics, polymer chemistry and the science of rheology. On the very fundamental level, its boundaries merge with molecular biology on the one hand, and the growing field of complex fluids (which itself has grown out of chemistry, physical chemistry, physics, and chemical engineering) on the other.
