Welcoming Children

Vygotsky in Luke 18.15–17

 

Abstract

This article locates Lev Semenovich Vygotsky’s (1896–1934) sociocultural approach in the context of Luke 18.15–17 where Jesus and his disciples encountered the children and parents. The article demonstrates that Luke 18.15–17 not only captures the theological significance of Jesus’ teachings on an appropriate response to faith nurture of children as he welcomes them; but also embodies the psychological dynamics of human relationships and development proposed by Vygotsky.
