Holography in museums

Abstract

This paper discusses some aspects of holographic display techniques pertinent for museum applications. In particular, it revises the features and requirements for three-dimensional (3D) holographic displays, examines the practical use of holographic interferometry as an effective tool for non-destructive inspection of museum items, discusses holographic methods for high-density data storage and outlines how 3D images can be integrated into a large coverage area.
