Abstract

This paper addresses on the video signal processing for layered spatial scalability. To improve the overall efficiency of spatial coding performance, a new distinguished video signal interpolation algorithm is proposed. Since human eyes are more sensitive to variations of the luminance signal than chrominance signals, the proposed algorithm intends to use different filters to interpolate different signals. Simulation results show that the coding time cost has been significantly reduced, and the spatial coding performance has also been well maintained. As a result, the overall efficiency is improved as expected. Therefore, the proposed algorithm can be applied in video coding applications with layered spatial scalability.
