Bryophytes of St Helena, South Atlantic Ocean. 2. Lejeunea sanctaehelenae sp. nov. (Jungermanniales, Lejeuneaceae), an unusual species with a hooded lobule

Abstract

A new species of Lejeunea (Lejeuneaceae) with a hooded lobule, L. sanctae-helenae M. Wigginton, is described and illustrated from St Helena, South Atlantic Ocean. Details of its distribution and habitats are provided, and differences between it and other species in the Lejeuneaceae are discussed. This is also the first report of the genus Lejeunea from the island.
