Abstract
New synonyms and distribution records are presented for the genera Macromitrium Brid. and Macrocoma (Hornsch. ex Müll.Hal.) Grout. Macromitrium seemannii Mitt., Macromitrium macropelma Müll.Hal. and Macromitrium nitidum Hook. f. & Wilson are placed in synonymy with Macromitrium microstomum (Hook. & Grev.) Schwägr. This species is recorded as new to Malawi. Macromitrium scleropodium Besch. is synonymized with Macromitrium orthostichum Nees ex Schwägr. Macrocoma orthotrichoides (Raddi) Wijk & Margad. is recorded as new to Africa (Uganda).
