Abstract

In this paper, the WC–10Co4Cr coatings were deposited by the laser hybrid plasma spraying (LHPS) technology on the 38CrMoAl substrate. The coatings’ wear resistance and corrosion resistance were tested by an SRV friction and wear tester and a neutral salt spraying test respectively. Phase composition and microstructures of the coatings were studied by an X-ray diffraction, an optical microscope and a scanning electronic microscope. Test results indicated that LHPS technology was very effective to improve the coating’s bonding strength, because the addition of laser power can densify the coating’s microstructure and decrease the coating’s porosity and cracks. Therefore, the coating’s wear and corrosion resistance are greatly improved.
