Abstract
The purpose of this article is to demonstrate the applicability of CQI-9, the new heat treatment standard of the Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG), and how it can be efficiently and effectively introduced into a sub-contract heat treatment facility. The reasons for implementing CQI-9 and the steps taken are described, as well as outlining the costs and benefits of implementation. A case study presents the necessary quality management system changes and reviews the actions taken by Heat Treatment 2000 Ltd (HT2000), located in the West Bromwich area of Birmingham, UK, during its implementation of CQI-9.
