Abstract

In this paper, an effective and clean production process was developed for spandex mixed viscose fabric pretreatment with the aid of low pressure plasma. The functional properties are developed due to plasma treatment. The influence of plasma parameters, such as oxygen pressure, discharge power and exposure time of pretreatment, on the fabric was investigated and compared with aloe vera and ZnO coated fabric. Results reveal the weight loss, impurity removal, contact angle and antimicrobial properties of the fabric. Modification of the chemical nature of the fabric surface was characterised by ATR-FTIR, the study of the surface morphology by scanning electron microscopy.
