Vitamin D and omega-3 fatty acids in musculoskeletal medicine

 

Abstract

Vitamin D and fish oil supplements are used in the treatment of musculoskeletal conditions. This informal review outlines current research on these two supplements in musculoskeletal medicine: vitamin D supplementation is shown to have potential benefits in various areas including osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, low back pain, and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal conditions; fish oil supplements may benefit inflammatory pain and some muscle symptoms.
